Individual Sports

We recognise that at Wadalba Community School there are a diverse range of sporting talents that are not always recognised in mainstream programs and opportunities. In an effort to have more students benefit from the many positive aspects of the Targeted Sports Program, we are excited to continue with the fifth sport to join Netball, Touch, Soccer and Rugby League being Individual Sports.

Our aim for this program is to provide opportunities for these athletes to train in their individual sport with the support of their parents and coaches during school sport time (12pm – 2:30pm). Twice a term individual sports athletes will participate in a group fitness training sessions. During Group sessions we foresee these students benefitting from: belonging to the Targeted Sports Program, having improved self-esteem and confidence, being involved in a positive experience with like-minded young people, and enjoying a variety of team-building and recreational activities in the local community. The emphasis will be on cross-training and fitness programs.

The school can offer ‘drop off transport' via regular sport bus routes with parental permission. It is important to note that parents become responsible for the athlete when they sign out of school for sport.

Topics in the Year 9/10 elective course, such as nutrition, coaching and movement analysis, will further compliment the athletic development of the Individual Sports students.

Individual Sport athletes that wish to participate in personal traning sessions during Tuesday Sport will need to complete and return the Individual Sport Note.
