Making Music At Wadalba!!
An invitation is open to all students interested in performing with the WCS Concert Band and Chamber Group. If you play ANY instrument, or wish to learn, then express your interest in this area.
Rehearsals take place in our new recording studio every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm to 3:30pm, with optional instrument drill and tuition from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. The rehearsals will be facilitated by Mr Vojkovic and Mr Walters.
Students will be given the opportunity to participate in band ensembles and chamber groups. Willing students may also volunteer to feature in solo sections of performance items. As the school is planning to audition this ensemble in events such as the CENTRAL COAST EISTEDDFOD and YOUTH in PERFORMING ARTS (YiPA) in 2012, it is important we commence rehearsals immediately. In addition to auditioned events, the ensemble will be honouring commitments with the local Wyong Sub-Branch of the Returned Services League (RSL) and are requested to perform at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
The activity incurs a minimum cost of $60.00 per term and an optional $30.00 per term for students who wish to participate in the instrument workshops. A voluntary payment of $30.00 per term can be made for the upgrade and purchase of new instruments for the specific use of the extra curricula programmes. Students will be required to perform occasionally for assemblies and other school events which will include at least one compulsory performance of our National Anthem each term. The remainder of the repertoire will be modern or re-vamped popular music or arrangements of well-known classical pieces. This is a fun initiative which is designed to improve technique, increase confidence, develop team work and improvisational skills. This is a great opportunity to represent the school utilising your child's musical talent.
