What will I be doing in this course?
Industrial Technology Timber Stage 6 consists of project work and an Industry Study that develop a broad range of skills and knowledge related to the timber industry, and an introduction to industrial processes and practices. This is a predominantly practical subject. Preliminary students will be required to complete two minor practical projects (one term each), while the HSC component requires students to produce a major project of their choice. This project generally runs over the course of one year and includes a comprehensive management folio.
The Focus Area is Timber Products and Furniture Industries.
In the Preliminary Course students will study:
- Industry Study – structural, technical, environmental and sociological factors, personnel issues, Occupational Health and Safety
- Design and Management – designing, drawing, computer applications, project management
- Workplace Communication – literacy, calculations, graphics
- Industry-specific Content and Production
In the HSC Course students will study:

Industry-specific Content and Production
In the Preliminary course, students must design, develop and construct a minimum of 2 projects. In the HSC course, students must design, develop and construct a major project with a management folio.
