Our policies and reports
Our policies and reports help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we’ve done and how we’re improving each year. Our policies address attendance, absences, behaviour, uniform and how we respond to your concerns.
Annual school report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School excellence plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.

School behaviour support and management plan
Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.

Numeracy Policy
The Wadalba Community School Numeracy Policy promotes developing students' mathematical skills across all subjects to help them apply numeracy in daily life. The Wadalba Community School Literacy Policy highlights literacy as essential for student success, involving reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing skills. It promotes explicit, evidence-based teaching across all subjects, with teachers responsible for literacy instruction and assessment. Literacy Teams use data from NAPLAN, PAT, and Check-In Tests to identify needs and guide targeted strategies. Faculties embed literacy skills in their programs, supported by ongoing teacher training and collaboration to improve student outcomes and align with educational goals.

Homework Policy
Homework is an important part of education that helps students practice and reinforce classroom learning. It develops skills in time management, information use, study habits, concentration, and self-discipline. Homework also strengthens the connection between home and school, involving parents and caregivers as active partners in their children's education by giving them insight into classroom teaching and student progress.

Scooter and Bike Riding Policy
Wadalba Community School’s Scooter and Bike Riding Policy promotes safe travel to and from school, encouraging students to wear approved helmets and follow road rules. Bikes, scooters, and skateboards must be securely stored in designated areas and are not to be ridden on school grounds. Parents are responsible for their child’s safety, maintenance of equipment, and ensuring students understand the rules. The school monitors compliance, with breaches potentially resulting in loss of riding privileges.

Enrolment Procedures and Protocols
Wadalba Community School follows the NSW Department of Education’s enrolment rules. If a student lives in the school’s local area, they have the right to enrol at the school. Parents can also apply to enrol their child at another school, but the school must have space and the student must meet the enrolment conditions.
Children can start school if they turn five years old on or before 31 July that year. Children identified as gifted and talented who are at least four years old by 31 January may only enrol under special rules for gifted students.
The school and Department make sure all children are treated fairly when enroling, including children with special needs, to provide the best learning environment for every student.

Anti-Bullying Plan
Bullying behaviour has three key features. It involves the intentional misuse of power in a relationship. It is ongoing and repeated, and it involves behaviours that can cause harm. The NSW Department of Education requires all NSW public schools to have an Anti-bullying Plan which details the strategies implemented to reduce student bullying behaviours.
