DRUMMIN' IN THE DRUM CORP

Every Tuesday morning from 7:20am the sounds of beating drums and driving rhythms can be heard sounding from the new Performance and Recording Studio at WCS.

To be part of this exciting ensemble there is no cost, however, students must own a pair of drum sticks and be able to bring them to every rehearsal.

Students will be given the opportunity to audition for the five various sections of a drum corp which they nominate. The choices are:

  • Snare
  • Toms
  • Bass
  • Cymbals
  • Hand Drums

Auditions will only be conducted on snare drum. Students will be graded according to ability and placed into their preferred section according to their ability and availability. Students may choose to alternate to other sections when changing repertoire at a later stage.

Availability for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service is a high priority. Students will be required to perform for assemblies and other school events. This is a fun initiative which is designed to improve techniques, develop team work and improvisational skills. Students will receive commendations for each performance and other certificates of achievement. This is a great opportunity to represent the school utilising your child's musical talent.
