Grass tree

Xanthorrhoea australis

The flowers of this remarkable plant produce a sweet honey that can be enjoyed directly or used to create a delightful, sweet drink when mixed with water. The stalk of the flower serves multiple purposes. It can be used to start fires and is also instrumental in the process of making spears. The grassy skirt of the tree is also effective for fire-starting, while the resin can be utilised as a natural glue to secure spear tips in place. This highlights the Grass Tree's significance as a resource in both food and tool-making.
