Getting Involved at School

During your child's years at school there will be many opportunities for you to become involved in school life. If you do assist at school in any way you are required to report to the school office to sign the volunteer helper's visitors book and receive a visitor's badge after completing the OH & S induction. This is for your own protection (should you have an accident or the school be evacuated or locked down during your visit) and for the safety of all students in the school. A ‘prohibited employment declaration' form must also be filled out by any person who works or volunteers in the school. The office staff will be able to explain this process to you.

Classroom Help

The benefits of helping in your child's classroom (if you are available) are many, but most importantly it helps to bridge the gap between home and school. Assisting in the classroom will also help you to understand the learning processes and activities in which your child is involved. At various times (as indicated by the teachers) the assistance of parents in the Kindergarten classrooms will be appreciated. Activities with which you could be involved include, listening to students read, assisting with number groups, assisting with gross motor activities. No prior knowledge or skill is required as the teacher will discuss the activity with you before you begin.

Early in Term 1 a note will be sent home outlining times in your child's class timetable when help is required.

Sports Helpers

There may be occasions when you could be asked to assist with gross motor and sporting activities.

P & C Support

The P & C meets regularly throughout the year. The Primary sub-committee also meets once a term. All parents are welcome to attend these meetings. This association is a vital component of the school community. Meetings offer an opportunity to meet other parents and participate in projects of importance to the school. Help is always welcomed when fund raising events occur.

If you are interested please speak to your child's teacher who will pass on your information or contact the office to find out when the next meeting is held.

Canteen Helpers

We are always looking for volunteers to assist in the primary canteen. If you are interested in helping at recess or lunch please contact the canteen by calling the school on 4392 5000.
